No matter how difficult or complex your HVAC problem is, we’re confident we can fix it in no time.

Any HVAC system, be it an air conditioner or a heater, should have a rating system that indicates how energy-efficient a unit is. These rating systems are defined as:

  • AFUE–The Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency rating indicates how much energy a furnace consumes in producing heat. An AFUE rating that is above 90% is the one you should look for.
  • SEER – The Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio defines the cooling efficiency of an A/C unit or a heat pump. Newer models should have a SEER rating of at least 13. At the same time, the most efficient systems should have ratings over 20.

Regular maintenance is the best approach in keeping your HVAC system running at its tip-top shape and your indoor air quality safe and clean. However, if you have an aging system and your energy bills just keep rising, then it might be time for a replacement.

The following will also help reduce energy costs:

  • When purchasing a new unit, look for products with an Energy Star label and high-efficiency ratings.
  • Upgrade to a smart/programmable thermostat. This will allow you to set your personal temperature preferences to optimize both comfort and efficiency.
  • Consider having a mini-split system. These units can be used to heat and cool certain rooms without spending too much energy elsewhere.

Ideally, your HVAC equipment should be professionally checked at least once a year, if possible before the cooling or heating season begins.  The fall season is for furnaces and spring season is for A/C units.
